SCR System

SCR System

This method aims to reduce pollutant emissions such as nitrogen oxides (NOx) by combining optimized engine combustion with exhaust gas after-treatment. The key component of this procedure is the use of AdBlue®.

AdBlue® is injected into the exhaust gases before they reach the catalyst. At this point, the high temperature in the exhaust system converts AdBlue® into ammonia. The ammonia then reacts with the nitrogen oxides as both pass through the catalyst, resulting in a chemical reaction that transforms these harmful gases into nitrogen and water vapor, which are harmless to the atmosphere.

One of the main problems in diesel engines is the emission of nitrogen oxides, which are harmful to human health. This issue is significantly reduced by SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) technology, which uses a urea-based solution known as AdBlue® to convert NOx into water vapor and nitrogen.

AdBlue® is stored in a separate tank in commercial vehicles and is injected into the exhaust system. Specially developed dosing systems within the exhaust system, in conjunction with the SCR catalyst, ensure a reduction of up to 85% in nitrogen oxide emissions and approximately 40% in soot particles.

Today, the only effective method to simultaneously reduce both particulate matter and nitrogen oxide emissions—and thus meet the legally required emission limits—is the SCR system.
